Louise Henderson

Hey there, I'm Louise, the artist behind Applique Tree Studio. Alternative and quirky, with a touch of eccentricity!

Creativity has always been embodied within me and as a young child, I would spend endless hours drawing and sewing.

Having studied two art subjects at school, it became apparent that this would be the path to follow. Aged sixteen, college was a natural progression. After studying an OND in Graphics and HND Textile course, I gained an advanced entry place at Winchester School of Art, where a Printed Textiles (BA Hons) was obtained. 

This quickly led into the work place, where I became a designer for Coats Viyella, producing commercial ladies wear prints for Marks & Spencer. The Ladybird childrens wear collection also ran parallel to this. Once plenty of experience had been gained, I decided to go freelance, working alongside several London based agents. 

Pattern, colour and texture are my passion, heavily influencing the designs I produce. Many of the fabrics used are vintage in origin and some of the more obscure buttons, recycled from clothes. 

I aim to maintain a childlike naivety within my art, as I believe that simplicity is key and fundamental to design in any form.
